hiya guys yes i am back safe and sound, so for those of you sweet ones who thank god for my return, bless you, and for those who are going 'dammit why didnt the waves suck him up' then screw you =P
anyway so i promised a first hand account on my trip to sri lanka but since the inccident i guess i'll just put in 'the best moments of sri lanka'.that'll save me alot of typing and save YOU alot of boring details.still the sweet old me arent i ^^
ok...so...incident number 1 yea you guessed it the tsunami
curiously enough on christmas day i arrived in Beruwella...right by the eastern coast of sri lanka.the night was relatively normal except that i found out that the hotel had internet access...so i ran to one of the two comps and started my online session.while i was somewhere in hotmail i notice this extremely cute caucasian strolling around the reception which i pointed out to my sis.moments later with me alone in that room of 2 comps this gal walked in and asked a very startled me 'is this comp free?' erm..yea i blurted out.a lil while after that i went to sleep.
the next day me and my siblings went for breakfast at 9-nish and was enjoying it when i noticed a lone guy running towards the restaurant.'weird ass' i muttered..then i saw behind him a bunch of locals and tourists doing the same.i stood up, alil curious and scared, to see what was going on.and then it came.
the water came pouring behind them and the people in the restaurant, each of them as curious as i was all started to move towards the exits.i grabbed me siblings and looked to my parents for instructions.'get back to our rooms!' my dad said.we rushed back with the water slowly seeping behind us.we packed up our stuff as precaution..and got out the brooms and stuff to sweep the mess outta our rooms.(it was a lil flooded) ran around..took a some pictures while discussing what happened.then suddenly from the sea(i had a clear view) a wave around 10m i think rose up and i was like SHIT.i slapped our sliding window shut and told me bro and sis 'GET TOWELS!'the three of us started stuffing them at the cracks of glass door while watching the water level outside rise.as i looked to the horizon, i muttered..oh my god.before my eyes a second and third wave was emerging, and telling me sibling to abondon the towels,we grabbed out luggage in time to meet our parents with THEIR luggage.we ran to the lobby where everyone gathered.people were crying and just when i settled down a local ran in screaming'RUN!!RUN!!' i was like oh shit what now...so we ran out to where the cars normally dropped the people and there i saw gallons and gallons of water rushing from both sides of the hotel.my dad sensing it wasnt safe enough told us to move upwards.we ran back into the lobby and up the stairs through the banquet room and up to the roof of the hotel.from there we had a clear view of the whole sea and it was just churning and sucking everything into it. at that moment i had my thought first on my family and then on two people...nvm who, and later my frens from elc and college.i was like shit,...now i would never have the chance to say how i love them all.
god was with us i guess as after a few hours of waiting..the water lvl started to subside.me dad decided not to stay any longer and made the crucial decision to move.with our luggage on our heads,we waded out of the hotel and into the main road...which was perfectly dry.
after that it details arent that important, we manage to somehow find our way to colombo, the capital of sri lanka.

the flooding after the first wave outside our room
the second one was in a place called sigiriya.we climbed this rock called the sigiriya rock which was like 200m high?or even higher i think.what was amazing that the were ruins of a winter palace there..build some 2500 years ago by a king in just 7 years..beneath the huge rock was a summer palace, with rock, water and flower gardens.

sigiriya rock..yea we climbed that all the way to the top
the gardens and pools were amazing, and it was kept alive by the most ingenious water system, almost seemingly impossible to achieve some 2500 years ago.the main water source was from a 8km wide lake, which through underwater channels are diverted into firstly the kings personal diving pool, fully equiped with diving board and changing rooms.the water then goes though a man made fountains, fiters and into the swimming pools for his 500 maidens.

see that line there?its where the diving board used to be

the kings seat by his pools to watch his maidens bath
when he got bored of his 500 maidens, he could go into him caves and stare at his paintings of his topless maidens, or walk through the gardens of his huge summer palace

his topless cafe...bet he sipped lanka tea here

gardens of summer palace..with ruins of palace
the climb up was a long one but it was worth every step. the view was magnificent and it makes you wonder how the hell the people of the past did this so long ago.its calling, the eighth wonder of the world is seriously eiligible.

from the top...and another one of his pools there

his gardens and all from the top...beautiful

me...on the rock
i've got more to say i guess but i'mlazy now and tired...hehe so i'll leave you with two candid pics =P

sign of malaysians getting desperate..=P

my lil sis in cloud 9 =P
